It’s no secret that Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is not into the idea of Amaravati being the capital of Andhra Pradesh. He made that very clear as soon as he became the CM of AP, and he has gone to the Supreme Court even, to challenge the Andhra Pradesh High Court’s ruling that Amaravati is the sole capital of AP. This ruling was given in favour of the petitions filed by the farmers of Amaravati, who filed petitions against the AP government’s 3 capitals idea.
While the case is still pending in the Supreme Court as of this day, CM Jagan’s recent statements are causing a lot of tension. At a curtain raiser event held in New Delhi today, for the representatives of various companies, Jagan said that Vizag will soon be the capital of AP, and that they should all invest in the state. Considering that the case is still pending in the SC, the CM’s statements can be considered as contempt of court.
Jagan went on to say that he is himself going to shift to Vizag in a few months’ time, from Amaravati, where he is currently working from. These statements by the CM are expected to create a lot of tension in the state for sure.
