Prior to the release of mega hero Vaisshnav Tej‘s debut film, Uppena, Mythri Movie Makers planned to dub the film in Tamil and release it in Tamil Nadu. However, Vijay Sethupathi who played antagonist in the film asked the producers not to release the film in Tamil simultaneously.
If the latest reports are to be believed, Vijay Sethupathi had a valid reason for the same.
Apparently, Vijay Sethupathi liked the story and wanted to acquire the remake rights even before the film hit the silver screens. That is the reason why he asked Mythri Movie Makers not to dub the film in Tamil.
Now that Uppena has gone on to become a box office blockbuster, Vijay Sethupathi has come to conclusion that the film will perform pretty well in Tamil too. So, he acquired the Tamil remake rights of Uppena for an undisclosed amount.
Vijay Sethupathi now holds the Tamil remake rights of Uppena and he is expected to materialize the remake in the near future.
