Former finance minister Arun Jaitley breathed his last at 12:07 PM today. He was 66 years old.
Jaitley undertook the treatment at AIIMS for the past few days, but as his condition was found to be out of hands, the doctors officially announced the sad news just-a-while.
“It is with profound grief that we inform about the sad demise of Shri Arun Jaitley, Hon’ble Member of Parliament and former Finance Minister, Government of India at 12:07 pm on August 24, 2019. Arun Jaitley was admitted in AIIMS, New Delhi on 09/08/2019 and was treated by a multidisciplinary team of senior Doctors,” the official statement reads.
Jaitley was one among the key leaders of the BJP and was also the cabinet minister. But he opted out to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s cabinet this time, owing to his health issues.
Even when Jaitley was undergoing the treatment at the AIIMS hospital since August 9th, complaining breathlessness and restlessness, several BJP leaders, including Narendra Modi and Amit Shah were constantly getting the health reports and the duo also visited the hospital.
Sushma Swaraj, who was an active BJP leader, also breathed her last recently. Even she was away from contesting in the recent elections, citing her health condition.
