After the Telugu states were bifurcated into two, as part of the AP Reorganization act, the Centre is supposed to increase the assembly constituencies in the state. But, as the then Congress government stepped down and BJP occupied the top chair, it completely ignored the rise of constituencies, just like many other promises.
Several times in the past, the local leaders, tried to suggest the Centre, about the increase in assembly constituencies. But as BJP was weak in Telugu States and the parties like TRS are at its best, the Lotus party stepped back from implementing such proposal.
But shockingly, BJP picked up well in the recent Lok Sabha elections in Telangana, by winning four seats. So, its then, the national party felt that the rise in constituencies would be an advantage and are considering the implementation of the proposal now.

Regarding this, the Centre has already sent a Cabinet Note to the election commission. If the response is positive from EC, then BJP will introduce the bill in the next Parliament sessions. If the bill gets approved, then, AP is going to have a total of 225 from the existing 175 and in Telangana, the number goes from 119 to 151.
