In a tragic incident, at least nine people have died in car crashes on Thursday evening due to winter storms across the Dallas-Fort Worth area of Texas. As per reports, nearly 133 vehicles, including several 18-wheelers, were involved in a massive crash on the Interstate 35W in Fort Worth, USA.
The total number of injuries remains unknown. According to Fort Worth police, at least 36 were taken from the scene to local hospitals. The number of injured will increase, the agency said.
The series of accidents is believed to have started when a few other cars coming from behind collided with the truck and stopped amid a winter storm that dropped freezing rain, sleet and snow on parts of the U.S.
At the scene of the crash, a tangle of cars and trucks had rammed into each other and had turned every which way, with some vehicles on top of others. The accidents were reported around 6 a.m. Fort Worth police said ice was likely a factor to cause of the accidents.
