Thriller movies are always popular with the audience. If the screenplay is interesting with twists and turns then the audience will definitely give it a hit. ‘Ashtadigbandhanam’ is a movie made based on this formula. ‘A game with crime’ is the tag line. Now let’s have a look at the review of this film which came before the audience today
Story:
Shankar is a rowdy sheeter who becomes a politician with the dream of becoming an MLA. Despite repeated insults, Shankar is hellbent on becoming an MLA, by buying the MLA ticket. For that, he needs 50 Crores. He devises a scheme to get that 50 Crores, which causes him a lot of issues. What are those issues, how does he come out of them and what happens finally forms the rest of the story.
On-Screen Performances:
Surya Bharath Chandra, who plays the hero in the film, is just about okay with his performance. He tries to do his best and is convincing in some scenes, but there’s still a long way to go. As a politician though, Surya managed to bring out the villainism in his character quite well.
Vishika, the leading lady of the film, looks good on the screen and has also managed to do justice to the limited role that she has been given.
The rest of the supporting cast is good enough in their roles, but do not have much to do.
Off Screen Talents
The director has come up with a good political film, which has a lot of different types of elements involved in it. Some twists are good in the film, but the over convoluted screenplay and certain unnecessary scenes mar the film’s overall experience. Had the director taken care of that and the performances, the film would have been much better.
The background music is okay, and the cinematography is fine. The production values are decent, but the editing could have been slightly better, with certain scenes having the scope to be removed.
Plus Points:
- Some twists
Minus Points:
- Screenplay
- Performances
Verdict: Ashtadigbandhanam is a political drama that has some elements that work in its favor. Having said that, the film does not warrant a theatrical watch and can be safely watched from the confines of your home.
