The Remdesivir injection is one of the most instrumental drugs in treating corona virus. Each vile of this injection costs around Rs. 3000. However, there’s a lot of black marketing involved in the sale of this injection.
Several reports have suggested that each of these injections is being sold at Rs. 30,000 or Rs. 40,000, in black, in Andhra Pradesh. This is especially shocking, given that the Central Government has clearly stated that the production of Remdesivir has been ramped up by the company. While the supply currently exceeds that of the demand, the production of Remdesivir has been ramped up, keeping in mind future requirements of the drug.
With Remdesivir being sold at sky-high prices in AP, Health Minister Alla Nani has warned that severe actions would be taken against middlemen selling the injections at inflated prices, than the original MRP. He has also asked the patients who were being asked to pay higher prices for the injections, at 104, and assured them that immediate action would be taken against those responsible.
