The Chief Secretaries of Finance and Panchayati Raj have been directed to appear before the court with full information on the financial condition of the state. “The government does not have the funds to pay the bills,” this argument gives the impression that the state’s financial situation is deplorable.
CK Erram Reddy of Chittoor district and R Srinivas Rao of East Godavari district have filed separate cases in the high court challenging the non-payment of bills for various works undertaken under the Employment Guarantee Scheme in 2018 and 2019.
Ordering the petitioners to file an affidavit explaining the reasons why they could not legally pay the due amount due, the High court postponed the next hearing to the 28th of this month.
