A lot of petitions have been filed against the Andhra Pradesh government, for painting government offices in YSRCP colours. The government has even received orders from the High Court of Andhra Pradesh in the past, to remove the colours, with respect to Panchayat buildings, but the YSRCP government approached the Supreme Court instead. After the SC also gave the same orders, the YSRCP government had no other choice but to follow the orders.
The AP HC heard the remaining petitions against the AP government in this issue and asked the government to submit its counter in the form of an affidavit. Panchayati Raj Principal Secretary Gopalakrishna Dwivedi has himself now filed an affidavit to this effect, today, in the HC, on the last day of the deadline given, promising the HC that a similar situation would not be repeated again.
The YSRCP government is expected to have come down and decided to follow the HC’s orders, by submitting a counter on the last day, fearing contempt of court. The seniors of the government are said to have taken this action in a hurry, fearing severe consequences.
