Under the Poshan Abhiyaan scheme, Anganwadi teachers surveyed all the houses at 4 mandals in Khammam district. The weaning food supplement under Poshan Abhiyaan includes the recipe of foods that include wheat, chana dal, milk powder, oil and sugar.
Anganwadi teachers planned to distribute it in packets of 2.5 kg per child per month. The supplement was handed over in all houses where postpartum mothers and children are residing at Wyra, Bonakal, Madhira and Mandupalli manuals in Khammam district.
The teachers notified that the first 1000 days from the first day of pregnancy for the mothers’ and childrens’ is very crucial. The mothers and child were given eggs, milk rice and other nutritious food as a mandatory supplement.
The parents of children expressed happiness for providing the additional supplication of nutritious food under poshan abhiyaan scheme that the children were healthy and had been playing merrily. They also thanked the government and Anganwadi teachers for their help during the covid-19 effected pandemic phase. Anganwaadi workers, childrens’ parents and others were present at the programme.
Poshan Abhiyan, is a Central government programme initiative put forth in resolving the malnutrition issues among children, adolescent girls and women. Balamrutham is the weaning food introduced under integrated child development services (ICDS) to children aged between seven months and three years with a motto to make supplementary food available easily.
