Australian fast bowler Andrew Tye, who plays for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2021, is disappointed to see the franchises and sponsors in IPL spend so much money during the tournament while India battling the second wave of Covid-19 pandemic.
Andrew Tye left for Australia midway through the IPL in the wake of the pandemic surge in India. He played one game for the team this year IPL and returned to his country as Australia was considering banning all flights from India.
“Looking at it from an Indian point of view, how are these companies and franchises spending so much money, and the government, on the IPL when there’s people not being able to get accepted into hospital?” he quoted.
The 34-year-old cricketer, however, added that the IPL 2021 should continue if it is bringing some happiness to the fans all around the world in these tough times.
