Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan is one of the most awaited films of the year. The shooting of the first part of the movie has been completed and it will hit theatres on September 30, 2022.
The much-awaited film, produced by Lyca Productions in association with Madras Talkies, is an adaptation of the epic novel and it has been titled ‘Ponniyin Selvan-1’.
Now, the latest news is that Amazon Prime Video has bagged the OTT rights of Ponniyin Selvan part 1 and 2 for a whopping sum. The deal was locked for a massive Rs 125 crores for the ‘Ponniyin Selvan 1’ and ‘Ponniyin Selvan 2’. As per reports, the total budget for the two parts of the film is said to be Rs 500 crores. With this solid deal, the makers have said to recover 25% already before the release.
The first look poster of Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Trisha have also been released. The story is set in the 10th century during a tumultuous time in the Chola Empire. The technical team comprises AR Rahman composing the music, Ravi Varman cranking the camera and Sreekar Prasad taking care of the editing of this movie.
