On the occasion of Hashtag Day, Twitter has released the top 10 most-tweeted hashtags of the first half of 2021 and the fans from South India have clearly dominated the microblogging platform.
The two films from Kollywood ruled the platform trends in India during the first half of 2021. The Two Tamil films — Ajith’s Valimai and Vijay’s Master are on the top of the list from January 1 to June 30 this year.
Interestingly, Mahesh Babu’s Sarkaru Vaari Paata is in third place while Pawan Kalyan’s Vakeel Saab also made it to the top-10 list.
After #Valimai #Masterand #SarkaruVaariPaata, hashtags #AjithKumar and #Thalapathy65 are in the fourth and fifth places respectively. Here is a look at the next five most-tweeted hashtags in India in the first half of 2021. #iheartawards, #rubinadilaik, #bts, #covid19, and #vakeelsaab ranked from 6th to 10th in the list.
“Over the years, it has evolved from a user-created way to categorise or ‘tag’ Tweets, to become part of our everyday speech, changing the nature of communication online and becoming one of the most influential symbols of the digital age,” said Twitter in a statement.
It is worth mentioning that Master, Vakeel Saab and Valimai were also the most-tweeted about films in 2020.
