Adivi Sesh’s film Major was finally released on Friday, after a lot of anticipation and delay. The film opened to amazing numbers in the Telugu states, but not in the North market. The film has been going extremely strong in the Telugu states and in Karnataka as well, on its second day, and is now expected to pick up in the North as well.
The film is estimated to have done not so well in the North on the first day due to Akshay Kumar’s Prithviraj, but with Akshay’s film receiving a lukewarm response, and Major getting a really good word of mouth, the film saw a 60% jump in North India on its second day. The Ceded day 2 numbers of Major are also very good.
Major is also doing extremely well overseas, having already crossed $700K in the USA and with more Telugu shows being added all over the country from Sunday. It is expected that collecting $1M is a cakewalk for the film. On the other hand, Major is directed by Sashi Kiran Tikka and is based on the life of Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan, who sacrificed his life for the country, during the 26/11 Mumbai attacks.
