Shortly after being vaccinated against polio, a child went into a coma and died. The incident took place in Maheshwar under the Dundigal municipality of Medchal-Malkajgiri district.
The child was vaccinated against polio at the Anganwadi Center in Shambhupur at 11.45 am.
Ten minutes later the child fell seriously ill and was rushed to a private hospital in Miyapur. Doctors who examined the baby said she was already dead.
Dundigal CI Venkatesam registered a case and launched an investigation after the mother complained that polio drops were the cause of her child’s death.
The child’s body was shifted to Gandhi Hospital for postmortem. Along with this baby, around 17 other children were given polio drops but none of them has fallen ill.
