Rajasthan Royals pulled off an incredible chase in this year of IPL. They have successfully chased a target of 196 in 18.2 overs. By this feat, they got an 8 wicket victory against Mumbai Indians. Ben Stokes (107*) and Sanju Samson (54*) are the ones who made it possible and gave Rajasthan a thumping win. With this victory, they still survive in the playoff race. For Mumbai, it was Hardik Pandya (60*) who played a blistering inning.
After winning the toss, Mumbai Indians elected to bat first. They got a horrible start as the opener Quinton de Kock got out in the first over itself. But, Ishan Kishan and Surya Kumar Yadav settled the game for Mumbai. They made a partnership of 83 runs for the second wicket. Then, Kishan got out in the 11th over. Within no time, even Yadav got out. After the cheap dismissal of Pollard, Saurabh Tiwary and Hardik Pandya kept the scoreboard going. They made a partnership of 64 runs for the fifth wicket. In the last over, Mumbai scored 27 runs off Kartik Tyagi’s bowling and got a high total of 195/5.
Rajasthan Royals got a bad start as well as Robin Uthappa got out in the second over. Then, Steve Smith went back to the pavilion in the fifth over. That’s when Ben Stokes and Sanju Samson took the responsibility of keeping Rajasthan alive in the chase. They played attacking cricket and kept the required run rate low. In the process, Stokes completed his century and Samson finished his half-century. They made a partnership of 152 runs and helped Rajasthan to score 196/2 in 18.2 overs.
