In the recent times, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has conducted reviews on few of the government programmes like Polavaram etc. This has led to huge criticism among the opposition leaders of YSRCP, who reached out to Election Commission and complained against Naidu.

EC on the other side, strictly said that it is not fair on the part of Naidu to violate the election code, by reviewing the projects. The AP CM then severely went against EC, saying that it has no right to interfere in the governmental activities.

Countering back, EC today said that, the Chief Minister before the results announcement, according to the election code, is not supposed to review the government projects. Any information about it should not be revealed into the public, through any sorts of media.

Especially anything related to the funds or the programmes that assures support to the public, should not be revealed when the election code is in the implementation. No media should be called for the press meet to discuss about the government programmes, the EC specified.

Adding to it, none of the party leaders are supposed to be involved in any of the video conferences. If there is any such emergency need to conduct such video conference, the government is supposed to take the prior permission of the election commission. The ministers and other government officials should not be called upon if not for an official meeting.

There are few rules of this sort, the EC revealed today and opined that Chandrababu Naidu has crossed all the rules and so busted him. Reportedly, the EC demanded a detailed explanation from Naidu very soon. However, the AP CM is not in a mood to respond to EC, opining that it has no right to dictate the terms to a Chief Minister of a state.
