Extra Ordinary Man is a Telugu-language romantic action comedy film written and directed by Vakkantham Vamsi of ‘Naa Peru Surya’ fame. The film has Nithin & Sreeleela in lead roles while Dr. Rajasekhar, Sudhev Nair, Rao Ramesh, Rohini, Sampath Raj, Brahmaji, Ajay, Harsha Vardhan, Suman, Annapurnamma, Pavitra Naresh, Ravi Varma, Hyper Aadhi, Venkatesh Mummidi, Jagadeesh, Soniya Singh, Satyasri, Hari Teja, Shrikant Iyenger, Rupa Lakshmi, Prudhvi, Shiva R, Sahithi, Satya Krishnan, Pradeep & others are seen playing important characters. The music is composed by Harris Jayaraj and the film is produced by N. Sudhakar Reddy & Nikitha Reddy under Sreshth Movies LLP banner.

Story:

Abhi (Nithiin) is a junior artist who does small roles in films and dreams of becoming a hero someday. He meets Likhita (Sreeleela), a rich entrepreneur, falls in love with her, and becomes the CEO of her company leaving his acting career behind. When life goes on happily, Abhi gets an acting offer as the lead role in a film. He agrees to be a part of the film and trains hard but things take a different turn. What happened next? What made Abhi turn into Satan? What’s his backstory? Needs to be seen in the film.

What about on-screen performances?

Nithiin is back to his strong zone which is comedy entertainers and he does a superb job in his role as a junior artist. His comic timing and funny antics will make us laugh in a few scenes. He is amazing in the action scenes as well.

Sreeleela does a good job in her typical commercial heroine role who just comes in for the love scenes and the songs. She is a treat in the ‘Ole Ole Paapaayi’ song with her energetic dance moves.

Rajashekar delivers a satisfactory performance in his limited role as a cop.

Rao Ramesh & Rohini entertain us thoroughly as the parents of the hero. Especially their scenes in the second half will bring the house down in laughter and all the scenes of Rao Ramesh & Nithiin in the first half are good.

Sudhev Nair fails to impress as the main villain in the film. He is definitely a wrong choice to be cast in this particular role as a better-known face could have been more effective.

Hyper Aadhi, Sampath Raj, Brahmaji, Shrikant Iyenger, Ajay, Harsha Vardhan, Hari Teja, Soniya Singh, Satyasri, and Pavitra Lokesh are good and entertain us in their respective comedy scenes.

Suman, Annapurnamma, Ravi Varma, Venkatesh Mummidi, Jagadeesh, Rupa Lakshmi, Prudhvi, Shiva Ramachandravarapu, Sahithi, Satya Krishnan, Pradeep & others are okay in their limted supporting roles.

What about off-screen talents?

The story by Vakkantham Vamsi is pretty ordinary. Though the concept of a junior artist and the script idea in the second half look fresh, the treatment revolving around the plot isn’t fully convincing.

The screenplay is good in parts and is routine in a few parts. Yes, there are a few hilarious comedy scenes that work well which is a big relief but there are also an equal number of comedy bits that do not work at all and look outdated at times. The whole villain track is out of place and the character played by Rajashekar looks forced into the plot. Also, the spoof scenes and spoof songs felt unwanted in a few portions.

Director Vakkantham Vamsi does an okay job with his presentation. Had he concentrated a bit more on the treatment and having a compelling story, especially in the second half, the film would have been a sure-shot hit.

The dialogues are good and the funny one-liners work out well.

Cinematographers Arthur A. Wilson, Yuvraj J, and Sai Sriram captured the film in good quality.

Harris Jayaraj’s music is a complete disappointment. Both the songs and the background score do not lift the film at any point. Only the mass song ‘Ole Ole Paapaayi’ is foot-tapping.

The editing by Prawin Pudi is average as it could have been more crisper in the second half.

The production values by Sreshth Movies LLP are adequate.

What’s Hot?

* Nithiin’s Performance
* Sreeleela’s Dances
* Rao Ramesh & Rohini’s Comedy Scenes
* Ole Ole Paapaayi Song & Choreography
* Few Hilarious Scenes

What’s Not?

* Lacks A Compelling Story
* Few Over The Top Comedy Scenes
* Terrible Songs & Poor Background Score
* Weak Villain Role
* Boring Rajashekar Portions
* Too Many Spoofs

Verdict: Extra Ordinary Man is a typical comedy entertainer with a routine formulaic approach which we haven’t seen in a long time in Telugu cinema of late. Can give it a try for the comedy scenes that click in parts.
