Major is a biographical drama based on the life of Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan who sacrificed his life during the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. Sticking to the same, the film prominently showcases Sandeep’s spirited life and determination as a soldier. What is Sandeep’s family background? On-screen performances:
Undoubtedly, Adivi Sesh should get a lion’s share in the movie as he just lives in the role of NSG Commando Sandeep Unnikrishnan gave his best. The actor brings authentic texture to the proceedings with his commendable screen presence. His cool attitude and settled performance throughout the film are an added advantage for Major. Adivi Sesh maintained a perfect physique and fitted in the NSG Commando role.
Prakash Raj and Revathi get meaty roles as Sandeep’s parents and the senior artists just lived in the characters. While young beauty Saiee Manjrekar is cute on-screen, her love track with Sandeep comes as an out of the syllabus during the key proceedings in the second half.
Actress Shobita Dhulipala as a hostage gave a convincing performance. Last but not least, Murali Sharma did their job perfectly as a high-grade Army officer.
Off-screen Talents:
Apart from acting, Adivi Sesh provided the story and screenplay for the movie. As everyone knows the story is based on the life of Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan but Adivi Sesh came up with the gripping screenplay. Especially, his paperwork during the crucial Taj Mahal hotel Commando operation is clearly visible on screen.
Director Sashi Kiran Tikka did his part quite effectively and executed the film as per the on paper guidance from Adivi Sesh. The cinematography work by Vamsi Patchipulusu is impressive as he showcased the entire film on a bright note especially he shot the action scenes in the second half with smokey frames and elevates the mood nicely. Music by Sricharan Pakala is the backbone of the film as his background score elevates the crucial episodes superbly. Two duets between the lead pair in the first half are passable on screen.
Production values for this limited budget film are grand. Editing work by Vinay Kumar Sirigineedi and Kodati Pavan Kalyan is okay.
