In a heart-wrenching incident, a man from Tirupati was forced to carry the body of his 10-year-old son on a two-wheeler for a distance of 90 km after the driver of an ambulance at Sri Venkateswara Ramnarayan Ruia Government General (RUIA) hospital allegedly demanded a huge amount from him.
The incident happened on Monday night when a 10-year-old boy from Chitwel Mandal village of Annamayya district died after treatment.
As per reports, the boy’s father tried arranging an ambulance to shift the body to his village for cremation, but it was alleged that the ambulance driver and hospital staff on duty demanded a huge amount from him.
As he cannot afford the hefty charges, the poor man left the hospital along with the body on a two-wheeler with no option available to him.
Sharing a video of the incident, Former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu tweeted, “My heart aches for innocent little Jesava, who died at Tirupati’s RUIA hospital. His father pleaded with authorities to arrange an ambulance which never came. With mortuary vans lying in utter neglect, pvt ambulance providers asked a fortune to take the child home for final rites.” (sic)
