Covid-19 cases in India continued to surge over three lakh for the fifth day in a row. The country registered 306,064 fresh infections in the last 24 hours, the Union health ministry bulletin showed on Monday morning. However, the cases registered yesterday were eight per cent lower than a day before.
With 439 new fatalities recorded in the last 24 years, the total death toll surged to 4,89,848. The country also reported 2,43,495 recoveries, taking the total recoveries to 3,68,04,145. The recovery rate is currently at 93.07%
Meanwhile, the active caseload of India, driven by the Omicron surge, currently stands at 22,49,335. The active Covid-19 cases in the country are highest in 241 days, says the health ministry.
Apparently, India is the second worst-hit country after the US. The daily positivity rate showed a 3% rise to 20.75% as compared to yesterday’s 17.73%, while the weekly positivity increased to 17.03%.
