Hyderabad traffic police have taken up full-fledged drunken driving (DD) checks, keeping in view the increasing number of road accidents caused by inebriated drivers.
During the drunken driving checks, a police officer was attacked at around midnight on Friday. It is a known thing that higher officials usually consider these kinds of attacks on lower level personnel seriously. But in this case, there is no serious response is seen from the officials and the issue has been kept a secret. It has become a ubiquitous topic of discussion right now.
As per reports, a Range Rover was speeding towards the NIA office in Madhapur at around midnight on Friday. When the police personnel tried to stop the car, they tried to flee from the spot. But after stopping the car, the cops faced a bitter experience as the people inside the vehicle refused breath analyzer tests. Not stopping with that, they attacked the police personnel and abused and threatened them for detaining their vehicle.
The traffic inspector on duty there sustained serious injuries. The inspector had lodged a complaint with the Madhapur Rana against the two who had not only obstructed his duties but also assaulted him.
One of the perpetrators of the attack was a civil contractor and the other a doctor. One of them is said to be a relative of a senior officer working in the police department. It is alleged that the local police are trying to save the accused. More details regarding this case are awaited.
