BJP senior leader Sushma Swaraj breathed her last on Tuesday night at AIIMS hospital, New Delhi. She was 67.
Sushma is one among the very few leaders, who had a non-controversial and neat political career. Though she represented BJP several times and was one among the popular leaders of the national party, she stood away from the recent Lok Sabha elections, citing her health issues. Her service to the party and the nation, as an external affairs minister is much appreciated.
She was also considered for the post of the governor of the Telugu states- Andhra Pradesh or Telangana. But she had to lose life, due to heart attack, leaving the BJP and also the nation in deep sorrow.
Sushma’s husband, Swaraj Kaushal, is a Supreme Court lawyer was a former Mizoram Governor and their daughter Bansuri Swaraj is a graduate from the Oxford University.
Responding to the incident, Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted, “A glorious chapter in Indian politics comes to an end. India grieves the demise of a remarkable leader who devoted her life to public service and bettering lives of the poor. Sushma Swaraj ji was one of her kind, who was a source of inspiration for crores of people.”
