South siren Samantha Akkineni’s digital debut is facing a heavy backlash and negativity on social media as the actress’ portrayal as a Tamil speaking militant joining hands with Pakistan’s ISIS didn’t well with Tamilians.
Ever since the trailer was out, the Tamil audience has targeted Samantha and started trending hashtags such as #ShameOnYouSamantha and #Familyman2_Against_Tamils on Twitter. The Tamil Nadu Government had also requested the Centre to take immediate action either to stop or ban the release of Season 2, saying it depicted the Eelam Tamils in a highly objectionable manner.
Amid these unfavourable times, fans of Samantha have come in support of the actress and backed her in the following suit. By trending #WeSupportSamantha, #WeLoveSamantha, they are extending their support and asking the Tamilians to watch the show first and later protest.
However, the Rangasthalam actress is tight-lipped about this controversy as the OTT giant advised her to remain silent till the show releases.
The Family Man 2 also features Manoj Bajpayee, Priyamani, Sharad Kelkar and Sharib Hashmi reprising their roles from season 1. The web series is scheduled to release on June 4 on Amazon Prime India.
