In a tragic incident, at least 9 people were killed and several others seriously injured in a quarry blast that happened in Andhra Pradesh’s Kadapa district on Saturday. The incident took place at Mamillapalle village of Kalasapadu Mandal in Kadapa district.
As per reports, the accident happened while gelatin sticks exploded in the quarry. The injured were rushed to a hospital for treatment. However, some of the injured are reported to be in critical condition.
While carrying the gelatin sticks in the vehicle, it appears that it accidentally exploded. The officials rushed to the spot and have identified a few bodies, and the search is underway to find others as the bodies were strewn all around because of the impact of the blast.
A total of 40 labourers are reported to have come for work in the mines. Reports suggest that all of them are identified as belonging to Badvelu and Porumamilla. A terrifying atmosphere prevailed at the scene. Full details regarding the incident will be known only after a comprehensive probe.
Reacting to the news of the tragic incident, Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed shock and conveyed his deepest condolences to the families of all those killed in the accident.
