Until very recently, Etala Rajendar was the Health Minister of Telangana, a member of the cabinet and the MLA of the Huzurabad constituency. However, just within a few days, everything changed for him.
Within a span of 24 hours last week, Etala’s portfolio was transferred to Chief Minister KCR, and Etala was also dismissed from the cabinet. All of these were done with the Governor’s approval. Now, Etala might get another jolt very soon, as reports suggest that CM KCR is considering disqualifying Etala from the Legislative Assembly as well.
Members of the TRS party are said to have come to the unanimous decision of filing a complaint with Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, to disqualify Etala for indulging in anti party activities. Given that Pocharam Srinivas Reddy is also a member of the TRS party, and is a KCR loyalist, there’s no doubt in the fact that he’ll act accordingly on this complaint.
Once Etala is disqualified from the Assembly, he wouldn’t even be an MLA anymore, and the Huzurnagar constituency would have to go for by-elections once again. Last week, Etala found himself in the middle of an unexpected controversy, when a few farmers belonging to the BC, SC, ST communities alleged that Etala forcefully occupied their lands. Etala has repeatedly said that this is part of a conspiracy that is being spun around him and that there’s no truth to it. He said that he would take appropriate action after consulting with his followers.
