Jana Sena Chief Pawan Kalyan took to Twitter to express his dissatisfaction over how the people of the low lying areas – submersion evacuees – of the Polavaram Project are being treated. These low lying areas would completely be submerged once the Polavaram project is completed, and the government promised to relocate them only once a suitable alternative is created for them.

Despite the government’s promises of providing a suitable alternative, the submersion evacuees are being evacuated by force, and are not even provided with suitable alternatives. Pawan Kalyan criticised the way JCB’s are being used by the government to demolish the houses of the residents of these areas and the way they are being deprived of electricity, just because they are refusing to leave, and are living in the ruins of their houses.

Pawan Kalyan said that doing all of these things to the people is a serious violation of human rights, and also said that Jana Sena would take this issue to the Human Rights Commission of India. Pawan said that Nadendla Manohar and other members of his party went to these areas and spoke to the people living there. He said that the difficulties that the people have been facing in these areas were then brought to his notice. Pawan also said that Nadendla Manohar was the person who spoke to the collector of the East Godavari district, about the lack of electricity for the people living in the low lying areas, after which they started to get electricity once again.

Speaking of the documents that the government produced and gave to these people, regarding the supposed alternative houses that are being constructed for them, Pawan asked the government to show solid proof of the existence of these houses. He also pointed out that several people who have been evacuated from Kachchuluru and Yenugulapalem have been taken to a place where the construction of the houses is sub-par, and where there’s no supply of even the basic amenities.

Pawan also pointed out that the government is only giving out Rs. 6.8 Lakhs and financial compensation, when it promised Rs. 10 Lakhs before winning in the general elections. Pawan questioned Jagan on what the CM’s response would be for all the people who have been cheated by the government now.

In the end, Pawan thanked Kandula Durgesh, Pithani Balakrishna, Settibatthula Rajababu, DMR Sekhar, Thummala Ramaswamy, Cherukuri Ramarao and others for conducting the survey in the low lying areas thoroughly and for successfully being able to find out the people’s problems.
