The makers of Jathi Ratnalu built up good buzz to the film with their innovative promotions and the film registered excellent advance bookings in the overseas and domestic circuit alike. The trailer and teasers suggested that the Naveen Polishetty starrer is a full-length comedy entertainer. Let us see what the film has to offer.
Story:
The story revolves around 3 buddies Naveen Polishetty, Rahul Ramakrishna, and Priyadarshi who come to Hyderabad in pursuit of a good lifestyle. But things horribly go wrong for them and they are accused of a murder attempt on a local MLA, Murali Sharma. What is the story behind the murder attempt? Can these Jathi Ratnalu come out unscathed from this mess?
What about on-screen performances?
Naveen Polishetty is the star of the film and he delivers a great performance. His comedy timing, dialect and mannerisms evoke humour all the way through. Rahul Ramakrishna bags a meaty role and he makes the most of it with his impressive portrayal. Priyadarshi is decent. Newcomer Faria Abdullah makes a striking debut. She emotes well. Murali Sharma as local MLA is at his usual best. Vennela Kishore makes a very brief appearance and there is nothing mention-worthy about his role.
What about off-screen talents?
The director, Anudeep KV pens a wafer thin plot and tries to narrate the proceedings in a comical manner. The first half is breezy and carries a good tempo barring the first 5-10 minutes. The situational comedy that has been generated through the three Jathi Ratnalu Naveen, Rahul, and Darshi will keep the audiences engaged. The love track between the lead pair is good. But the second half is a let down when compared to the first half. It fails to carry forward the momentum built in the first half as many scenes seem unnecessarily lengthy. Silly comedy takes the centre stage and it overpowers the core plot which deals with the alleged murder attempt, the story behind it, and related court hearings. The ending is unconventional but it evokes humour.
The super hit Chitti song is presented well. The rest of the songs are okayish. Cinematography is decent. The second half needed better editing. Production values are good.

Verdict: The first half is as breezy as it can get, thanks to rib-tickling comedy scenes and good performances from the lead cast. But the second which held the key is poorly written. The director opts fo carry his comical narrative even in scenes which needed more of a serious approach. This brings down the novelty factor. The climax is a bit farcical but it does evoke a few laughs.
Watch or Not?
The younger section of the audience will like the film and the rest might find it a mixed bag.

Second Half Report: The second half is a bit let down compared to the first half. The film needed a better narrative in the 2nd half to carry the momentum. Its fate would have been different had the screenplay been compelling in the penultimate portions.
First Half Report: Jathi Ratnalu has a breezy first half with youthful comedy which has Telangana flavour to it. Naveen and Rahul’s performances and the comedy sequences are the highlights of the first half. But the actual story is yet to unfold and a lot depends on the second half now.
