A 24-year-old medical intern passed away at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh in Uttarakhand on Sunday, 11 days after receiving the Covid-19 inoculation.
The deceased, identified as Niraj Singh, was given the primary Covid shot on February 3 and was soon hospitalised on February 5 after receiving his complaint of unexplained weakness, which caused a deteriorating condition. Officials in the health department affirmed his death was unrelated to vaccination and attributed it to undiagnosed comorbid sickness that might have not been disclosed in the informed consent form.
The consent form is either given to a patient before administering medication for cure or to a healthy participant before administering drugs as part of any clinical trial. Along with the form, a video is captured while participant agrees to the process. But since Niraj Singh didn’t mention due to his ignorance, the jab showed an adverse drug reaction that proved to be fatal.
As per the central government guidelines no individual with co-morbidities should be administered the vaccine.
AIIMS, Rishikesh PRO Harish Thapliyal stated, “Singh had returned from encephalitis-hit Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh on January 30. He was administered the Covishield jab on February 3 as the frontline corona warriors had to be inoculated in the first week of February, ”.
