State Election Commissioner Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar is going to tour Punganur, Chittoor district. It is learned that he will visit all the panchayats where consensus has been registered on a large scale and will examine the nomination papers.
The third phase of panchayat elections in the Punganur constituency has reached unanimity on a large scale. Recently, the local returning officials announced that all YCP supporters had won unanimously as the withdrawal deadline had also expired. There have been complaints that large-scale nominations have been rejected and irregularities have been registered.
Telugu Desam Party supporters and independent candidates have lodged complaints with the state Election Commission office against the authorities for rejecting their nominations. At the same time, some Telugu Desam party supporters have also approached the AP High Court. Petitions were filed against the rejection of nominations. In view of all these incidents, Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar will tour the Punganur constituency.
