Recently, the Union Steel Minister Dharmendra Pradhan revealed key facts in the Rajya Sabha regarding the Visakhapatnam steel plant privatization.
The minister clarified that POSCO was setting up a plant in the Vizag steel plant lands. In response to a question from YCP MP Vijay Sai Reddy, he said that an agreement from POSCO has reached Visakhapatnam Steel Plant in October 2019 itself.
Dharmendra Pradhan clarified that the agreement to privatize the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, which acts as the Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), reached Vizag in 2019 and the AP government and Chief Minister YS Jagan were aware of the matter.
The Union Minister said that the South Korean company POSCO had already visited the Visakhapatnam steel plant three times.
