India now ranks third among countries in terms of the number of Coronavirus vaccine doses administered, the Union Health Ministry said. Only the United States and the United Kingdom remain ahead of India.
The Health Ministry said in a press release that 12 states in India have vaccinated more than 2 lakh beneficiaries each. Uttar Pradesh alone accounts for 6,73,542 of all vaccinated beneficiaries.
As of Sunday, a total of 58.12 lakh beneficiaries have received the vaccine under the countrywide Coronavirus vaccination exercise. As of Sunday morning till 8 AM, as many as 1,15,178 sessions have been conducted so far.
Meanwhile, India becomes the first country to give Covid vaccine to Afghanistan. As per reports, 5,00,000 doses of Bharat Biotech’s Covishield shipped to Afghanistan.
