In the wake of the AP panchayat elections, the State Election Commission is making key changes. Recently, IAS officer K Kannababu has been appointed as the secretary of the Election Commission in AP. The state government has issued orders to this effect. The Election Commission has handed over Vanimohan, who is the Election Commission secretary in the past to the state government.
The state government has taken this decision after noticing a shortage of officers in the run-up to the panchayat elections. The SEC recently wrote a letter to the state government asking it to nominate three officers to replace the secretary post, as the absence of the secretary is affecting the functioning of the commission. In this context, the government has proposed the names of three IAS officers Rajababu, Vijaykumar, and Kannababu. After examining these, SEC Nimmagadda decided to select Kannababu as the Secretary of the Election Commission.
