Andhra Pradesh High Court Judge, Justice Rakesh Kumar is all set to retire in a few weeks’ time, and is making sure that his image and reputation are not tarnished within the span of these few weeks.
He is making sure that he hears no case related to the government, as the YSRCP government is filing petitions of his removal from office, in the case that the Justice passes any sort of order against any case related to the Andhra Pradesh government.
Recently, the case where the government has been accused for misusing public money for the application and removal of the YSRCP paints from government buildings, has come to hearing before Rakesh Kumar. The lawyer of the petitioner Dr. Maddipati Sailaja, said that the government owes Rs. 4000 Crores, which was the amount of money wasted for the paints, and said that ministers and other members of the YSRCP have to pay this amount back to the public.
While Rakesh Kumar agreed that these are serious charges against the government, he also clarified that he is in no position to take up the case right now, or pass any order with respect to it, given that he’s retiring within the span of a few weeks, and does not want the government to file any petitions against him at this point of time.
Rakesh Kumar has also said that he is as it is busy with many other cases, and has postponed many cases related to the government until after he retires in January 2021.
