Another year and another heartbreak for the fans of Royal Challengers Bangalore. They have been knocked out of the tournament in the eliminator match against Sunrisers Hyderabad. The men in orange won the match by six wickets and got a thrilling victory in the last over. Kane Williamson (50*) and Jason Holder (3/25, 24*) played a crucial role in anchoring SRH’s win.
After winning the toss, David Warner elected to bowl first. Openers Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal got out in the powerplay itself. Later, Aaron Finch and AB de Villiers have played well for some time. When they were building a solid partnership, Finch got out. After that, no other batsman barring de Villiers has played well. By the end of 20 overs, RCB managed to score only 131 for a loss of seven wickets. Jason Holder scalped three wickets and Natarajan got two.
SRH also faltered while chasing this total. Opener Srivats Goswami got out in the first over itself. In the fifth over, David Warner got out due to a controversial decision. Within no time, Manish Pandey as well. Very soon, Priyam Garg also went back to the dugout. When SRH seemed to be in trouble with a score of 67/4, Kane Williamson and Jason Holder made a crucial partnership of 65 runs to give this stunning victory to their team. In the process, Williamson scored his half-century as well. When nine runs needed off the last over, Williamson had hit two fours and finished the match. SRH will next face Delhi Capitals in the Qualifier 2 on November 8.
