Demanding to count 50% VVPAT slips, 21 opposition parties, along with TDP have approached the Supreme Court and filed a petition earlier. Responding to it, the apex court has quashed the review petition, refusing to look into the issue.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, Jammu and Kashmir leader Farooq Abdullah, Congress leader Kapil Sibal along with a few other leaders have attended the Court Hearing. Surprisingly, the court concluded the hearing in less than a minute, implying that the existing ruling of Counting 5% VVPAT Slips will be continued as usual.
TDP was strictly against the way the elections are held in Andhra Pradesh and opined that there were irregularities at several booths. For this, the party kept on demanding to count 50% VVPAT slips, for which the Election Commission opined that the counting of so many slips will take 6 days of time and thus create new problems. But the opposition leaders opined that in the days of the Ballot Papers Counting, the the Counting finished in less than 2 days.
The results for assembly and Lok Sabha elections held in Andhra Pradesh are scheduled to be out on May 23rd, amidst of high anticipations among the political circles. While the YSRCP circles are in a celebration mood, predicting their victory on the beforehand, the TDP leaders are continuously going against the Centre and Election Commission, alleging the irregularities in the way the elections have been conducted.
