A massive fire broke out in Bhoiguda, Secunderabad in the early hours of Wednesday. The unfortunate incident happened in a timber and scrap godown due to a short circuit. Twelve people were trapped in the blaze and burned alive. Locals said the accident happened at around 3am.
As per reports, 15 migrant workers from Bihar slept on Tuesday night in a scrap shop in Bhoiguda IDH Colony. A short circuit occurred and a huge fire broke out in it. Two workers escaped unhurt and 13 others were trapped in the blaze. 12 of whom were burned alive. The whereabouts of the other worker are yet to be known.
Firefighters with seven fire engines rushed to the scene and brought the blaze under control.
According to fire officials, police received information that a fire broke out in a scrap godown in Bhoiguda at around 3 in the morning. They immediately alerted fire station personnel. First two fire engines were dispatched to the scene. Six more were sent to the location as the severity of the accident increased. After controlling the fire to some extent, the firefighters went inside and found the bodies.
Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav said a full inquiry has been ordered into the fire incident. He inspected the scene and spoke with authorities.
