The YSRCP government called for the one and only Assembly session for this season, to be held today, on May 20, to introduce the state’s budget for the financial year of 2021-22. The government introduced a one-of-a-kind budget, by introducing a ‘gender budget’ for women.
A total of Rs. 2.29 lakh Crore budget has been prepared for this financial year. Under the ‘gender budget’, Rs. 47,283 Crore has been allocated for women, while Rs. 16,748 Cr was allocated for the welfare of children. This is said to be part of the Chief Minister’s plans to prioritize a better future and life for women and children, and for making more opportunities for them.
This year’s budget exceeds last year’s budget by nearly 5,000 Crores, and the revenue deficit is also shown at Rs. 5,000 Crores this year. According to Finance Minister Rajendranath Reddy, the revenue expenditure would be Rs. 1.82 lakh Cr and capital expenditure would be Rs. 47,582 Cr this year. Apart from this, the YSRCP government allocated Rs. 28,237 Cr for BCs and Rs. 5,478 Cr for EBCs, as a counter towards the opposition, TDP. It also allocated Rs. 3,306 Cr for the welfare of the Kapus community, thereby attempting to silence the Jana Sena Party.
