BJP national secretary in-charge of Andhra Pradesh Sunil Deodhar said that the YSRCP was able to form the government in AP only due to the BJP.
Speaking at a party meeting held at Tenali in Guntur district, he said that, the Lotus party had an alliance with TDP in 2014 and so the latter was able to form the government then.
But the things took turn over the months, and TDP Chief Chandrababu Naidu severely went against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. So, the people of AP rejected Naidu and the Pro-BJP votes have fallen into YSRCP’s kitty, he said.
Deodhar said that about 20% of the BJP votes got transferred to Jagan’s party in the recent elections. So according to him, out of 49% voting share that YSRCP got in the elections, 20% belongs to BJP and its only the remaining 29% Jagan’s party owns. In that way, TDP, which got about 40% voting share was supposed to form the government, if at all, the pro-BJP votes were not transferred to YSRCP.

If that is the case, BJP could have got a minimal vote share in the elections. But the Lotus party completely lost in all the constituencies it contested and even lost deposits. Deodhar’s comments can thus be considered as basless. Until the Lotus party responds positively towards the special category status, there is no way for it to make any impact in the state.
