YSR housing scheme which was supposed to be launched in the month of March this year is being postponed again and again. It was said that the scheme would be launched on YSR Jayanthi but was later postponed to August 15th. But the latest flash reports suggest that the scheme has been postponed indefinitely again.
Cabinet minister Dharmana Krishna Das confirmed that housing scheme will not be commencing on August 16th. He cited the alleged involvement of TDP as the reason behind the postponement.
For some reason, the ruling party is reluctant to hand over the houses that were built during TDP’s regime as well. These houses were built over a year ago but are yet to be handed over to the beneficiaries and the government is remaining tight-lipped when asked about it.
The repetitive postponement of housing scheme is raising doubts on whether or not it would be implemented by Andhra Pradesh government.
The ruling party leaders have been heavily publicizing this particular scheme but there has been very little progress in regard to its actual implementation.
The lands that were acquired by the state government for construction of houses are involved in various disputes and that is said to be one of the reasons behind the long delay. But the government is pushing the blame on to the opposition parties for obvious reasons. Will this scheme come to implementation at least by 2024? Only time will tell.
