People may not experience it directly but, the Andhra Pradesh’s economy is in the doldrums. Speaking frankly, the AP government hasn’t been able to implement the regular development works in many constituencies in the state. Many MLAs are reportedly dissatisfied with the administration as they haven’t been able to receive the funds for the developmental works of their individual constituencies.
Amid this economic distraught, Jagan has been repeatedly questioned about the liquor ban he promised to do in state step-wise. Liquor consumption plays a massive role in the Andhra Pradesh state economy and already Jagan has made it a mess with his new reforms and the income that has been generated from past months is comparatively very low even though the government doubled the prices.
If the liquor will be banned immediately it will incur an Rs.12,000 crore loss to the AP government. The AP government also reduced the number of shops, saying this step would ban alcohol. But for the last six months, the state revenue has dropped completely due to the corona. One is the situation where even the salaries of government employees cannot be paid. The possibility of the release of funds from the Central Government is not in sight.
Under these circumstances, financial experts warn that the step-by-step implementation of alcoholism could lead to a further decline in revenue. So, Jagan has been tight-lipping the people who have been questioning the government about the state of the liquor ban because they seem to be in a state of the disarray in this issue and the people of AP are very eager to see if AP CM would manage to keep his promise in this most sensational decision.
