A casual chat on WhatsApp group among 17 young professionals to help covid-hit people turned into a major contribution ever. The individuals who haven’t even meet each other face to face, to help Covid-19 patients and their families had accumulated Rs 2.17 crore in only 40 days. This is seemingly the most ever collected Covid-19 fund by a little group of IT and start-up professionals in Hyderabad.
The IT youth, who hail from various areas of society yet are collaborated through their start up eco system, made an online Covid-19 fund on April 22 connecting benefactors straightforwardly with those needing assistance. The group provides access to contributors to credit donations directly into the acounts of individual patients who don’t have money to meet the extravagant hospitalisation, medicine, oxygen cylinder costs etc.
The initiative was taken by the group after observing that few hospitals have been looting helpless patients in troubled times.
As on June 7, surprisingly a total of 4,254 donors have chipped in Rs 2,17,30,571 to 312 Covid-19 patients and their families. The online platform functions in such a way that no third party has rights or access over the personal details. Once the patient makes a request, the team enquires the authenticity from hospitals and release the funds respectively.
The team constitutes Ibrahim Khan, Shazad Ahmad, Arunima, Inthiyaz, Vibha, Udaya, Afzal, Sivaji, Shruti, Vivekananda H Aditya Kothari, Archana, Diwakar, Jelam B, Madhavan, Harshbi and Shivangi.
