Kannada actor Yash, famous for his role in KGF, is making a bold move by taking on the role of Raavana, one of mythology’s most complex villains. Instead of playing it safe, Yash is taking this challenge while at the peak of his popularity. This unexpected decision has set him apart from others, who often pick negative roles during career slumps.
Yash recently started filming for the mythological epic Ramayana in Mumbai. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the movie is backed by Yash’s own production house, Monster Mind Creations, along with DNEG. The sets are said to be grand, and it is expected that the high-end visual effects will bring Raavana’s kingdom to life. Before filming, Yash visited the Mahakaleshwar temple for spiritual preparation.
The movie has an impressive cast: Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Sunny Deol as Hanuman. The shooting will continue in June, and Ramayana will be released in two parts—Part 1 during Diwali 2026 and Part 2 in Diwali 2027.
Apart from Ramayana, Yash is also working on his action thriller Toxic, which is set to release on March 19, 2026. With both a mythological and modern role in the same year, Yash is redefining his career and proving that he’s unafraid to take risks. Whether audiences love or debate his portrayal of Raavana, he has taken a bold step and we need to see if it pays off.
