YSRCP MP, Vijay Sai Reddy is after the Gitam University management for the past few days and now he complained to the medical council asking the autonomous status to Gitam University should be cancelled. It is kwon that GVMC officials have demolished the compound wall of the Gitam University saying that it was built on government land illegally.
It is well known that ownership of this University is a highly contentious issue in the dispute over its construction on 40 acres of government land. The MP has lodged a complaint with the National Medical Council over ownership trapped in a case of encroachment on government land. The MP, who did not stop complaining, recently lodged a complaint with Union Medical and Health Minister Ramesh Pokriyal and UGC chairman Dhirendra Pal Singh.
In his complaint, Said Reddy demanded the immediate revocation of the university’s recognition as a deemed university. He suggested that Geetham should be affiliated to Andhra University so that the future of the students won’t get into trouble. The Gitam University has been severely accused for violating regulations of the University Grants Commission and for bringing ownership deemed status by manipulating their ineligibility. In his complaint, Vijay Sai details a list of irregularities and wrongdoings committed by the Gitam ownership over the years.
There is a thing to note here. There are so many colleges in AP that were built illegally and are not even maintaining the standards to get recognised by the MCI, PCI and AICTE. The thing with Gitam is that the late MLC MVVS Murthy Danna, who is very close to Chandrababu Naidu, is the owner of Gitam Educational Institutions. Murthy’s grandson, Nara Lokesh’s cousin Shri Bharat, contested and lost the previous elections as the Visakhapatnam MP for the TDP.
Now, everyone feels that as founder of the Gitam was one of the senior leaders in Uttarandhra, and being a close relative of Chandrababu and hence Vijay Sai also clung like a sting to the Gitam Ownership. It remains to be seen whether the Center will take MP’s Complaints about this institution, which has grown into one of the most popular universities in the country into account, or whether it will deliberately dismiss the allegations.
