Senior Telugu Desam Party leader and chairman of Public Accounts Committee Payyavula Keshav, on Saturday, asked why the Andhra Pradesh government was not using its good relations with the TRS government, to buy coal from Singareni, instead of purchasing it at high prices in the open market.
Keshav also asked why Jagan wrote a letter to PM Modi instead of taking corrective measures in this regard. He said that Jagan’s letter was a falsification of all facts, wherein he linked the increase in the prices of electricity to the post-Covid power demand in Europe and China and questioned why this was brought into the picture in the first place. Keshav also said that AP-based thermal power companies stopped coal imports only after a lack of payments, purchases and support from the State Government. The state hasn’t been able to run even the Rayalaseema Thermal Power Plant (RTPP) and the Vijayawada Thermal Power Station (VTPS) beyond 50 per cent capacity.
He asked why the government was not able to take necessary actions in this regard, and why it was trying to pin its failure on the Central government.
