After the Bhopal gas leak accident in 1984, the norms changed a lot stricter in India, since then no permissions have been given if there is a small deviation in the safety norms. Then how did this horrific Vizag gas leak occurred from the LG polymers industries?
In the entire lockdown period, this company remained shut and today at 4 AM they have decided to start work in the factory and then this accident happened. A poisonous gas named styrene got leaked causing 6 casualties and 2 other persons died while escaping the gas-prone area.
It is being said that this accident occurred due to the technical error committed by the inexperienced people in the factory. They haven’t taken necessary precautions while restarting the system and recently the people with a lot of experience in the technical department were replaced with the freshers and it is believed that they made the mistake.
This LG polymers company belongs to South Korea and they took over this factory from Hindustan Company 15 years back. In South Korean Companies the autoblock system comes into play when there is a gas leakage but this factory is not be equipped with that advanced kind of advanced technology and it is another reason for this disaster.
