Lord Venkateswara Swamy in Tirupati is one of the most famous and most powerful Gods in the world. People from all over the world come to get a glimpse of him every day. He is also known to be the richest God in modern times, because of the constant donations to the Holy Hundi in the Tirumala temple.
As there’s a constant inflow of money in the temple, it has become very common for the board members of the TTD to take advantage of this money for various reasons. The most recent one is where former chief priest Ramana Deekshitulu and MP Vijayasai Reddy took Rs. 2 Crores to pay as lawyer fee, in the defamatory case that was filed against them, by the TTD board, after the two of them made derogatory remarks against the Lord.
The case has now come to hearing , which is why the debates and questions in political circles have once again begun. Deekshitulu and Vijayasai also said that the then Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu also illegally transported a pink diamond in the sanctum sanctorium of the temple, abroad. For all of these remarks, the TTD filed a case against them.
Now that the TTD board has changed, after the government has changed, the new board has decided to withdraw the case, saying that both Deekshitulu and Vijayasai apologised for their remarks and that they stated that they believe in Lord Venkateswara Swamy.
With the board withdrawing the case, oppositions are explicitly saying that the government is taking care of the issue, making sure that Vijayasai is not at the center of any cases. The oppositions are also now asking the Rs. 2 Crores that were taken as lawyer fee, to be paid back to the Lord, with full interest.
It now remains to be seen who will pay back this amount, and by when and if, it will be paid at all.
