There has been news popping up in the media all over the world that meat exported from few countries tested Covid-19 positive. This shook the entire world for a while as people now doubt the food they are buying and eating. WHO came forward to clarify on this topic as there is a chance for food shortage in future resulting from avoiding food from other countries.
WHO mentioned that there is no evidence that Covid-19 is transferring through food. WHO strongly stated that the people shouldn’t fear about food or processing or packaging. Regarding the frozen food, WHO stated that Chinese authorities tested few lakhs of samples and very very few turned Covid-19 positive. Even thought this statement contradicts the no evidence statement, WHO official Maria Van Kerkhove says that virus will be killed by the time the food gets eaten by the common man.
Well, authorities were suggesting to clean and cook the meat/food long enough to kill all the virus, before eating.
