Whatever payments the government of any state has to do to any other institution, usually go through the RBI. There’s no way that the RBI will stop these payments, but there are chances of these payments being delayed. However, the RBI has rejected one particular payment that the AP government has to do.
The AP government is reportedly due Rs. 1100 Crores to one particular organisation and wanted to pay this amount to that organisation. This payment was cancelled by the RBI because the payslips belong to the previous financial year.
The dues from the previous financial year are not to be paid in the current financial year, because of which the RBI rejected it. No matter how many times the AP government pleaded with the RBI, the RBI was firm on its decision. Hence, the AP government is said to have taken the decision to pay these dues under secrecy.
Nobody knows why the AP government is being firm on paying the dues using the previous financial year’s bills, and no one knows to which organisation it owes this much money.
What the government needs to understand is that the government spends the money of the people, which the people pay in form of taxes. If not to anyone else, then the AP government, or any government for that matter, is answerable to the people.
