Andhra Pradesh Beverages’ former MD Vasudeva Reddy was detained by AP CID last week. However, the latest updates are suggesting that Vasudeva Reddy hasn’t yet been arrested by the CID and he is just being questioned for the time being.
The TDP+ government has reportedly ordered CID not to arrest Vasudeva Reddy in a hurried manner as he could easily secure the bail later and come out. The instructions are clear to the degree that he must be arrested only with proper proof.
The CID is reportedly investigating the liquor pricing, filling, and other irregularities that happened in the previous YCP government. Vasudeva Reddy is the big fish in the liquor scam that is alleged against the YCP government and his questioning could lead to several other openings that could give a clearer picture of the whole operation.
It reached a point where the opposition complained to the EC that Vasudeva Reddy while he was the Beverages chief used to attain as much liquor as needed to YCP which is a key factor in influencing the electoral trends.
The AP Beverages wing secured loans amounting to Rs 14,000 crore and it is estimated that Vasudeva Reddy was a key player in this matter. The 2008-batch IPS officer has been a smooth operator for YCP from the beginning and Jagan, immediately after coming to power bought him to AP on deputation.
The CID is looking to extract every bit of information from Vasudeva Reddy and only then get him arrested if needed. Other YCP leaders who are involved in this liquor operation could also come under the radar with this investigation now.
